About Our Teams
Panther Volleyball Academy is a competitive travel volleyball program built on skill development and community. We challenge athletes to grow as players while fostering an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to belong and succeed. Through quality coaching, meaningful competition, and a team-first culture, our goal is to help athletes build confidence both on and off the court.
Our season runs from November through March and includes weekly practices, strength and conditioning, and 7–8 regional tournaments. Teams are typically made up of 10–12 players.
For the 2026-2027 season, PVA will have two teams:
Panther Black 14
Panther Black 16
-
Panther Volleyball Academy is a travel volleyball program bridging the gap between recreational leagues and traditional club volleyball by providing players and families with a more accessible path to competitive play.
-
We will have two teams - Panther 14 Black (for athletes with birthdays between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013) and Panther 16 Black (birthdays between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011).
-
Teams are selected through the tryout process. All athletes, returning or new, will participate in tryouts, during which coaches evaluate players based on volleyball skills, athletic ability, effort, attitude, coachability, team position needs, and overall club and team fit.
-
We offer competitive training, quality coaching, and meaningful tournament play at a lower cost and with less travel than many club programs, making volleyball more accessible to local families.
-
Teams are expected to compete in approximately 7-8 tournaments throughout the season, consisting mostly of one-day regional tournaments with minimal overnight stays, all within driving distance of Southern Wake County.
-
Practice information for the 2026–27 season will be announced on teams’ pages once facility schedules are finalized. Teams generally practice 1–2 times per week during the club season, with an additional strength-and-conditioning workout session at the Original Strength Institute in downtown Varina.
All practices are currently scheduled at Southern Wake Academy, located in Holly Springs. -
Player fees cover gym rental, tournament entry fees, administrative expenses, strength & conditioning programming, equipment, and other operational costs.
